A gathering of 30 Australia Awards scholars and representatives from Sydney universities, Consulates, DFAT and NSW Department of Industry celebrated the networks formed and combined learning achieved through the 2018 NSW Government Australia Awards Seminar Series. Scholars from Australia Awards Indonesia, Philippines, PNG, Mongolia, Vietnam and Cambodia have participated in the Series since March 2018, meeting with NSW Government officials in seminars and field visits across a range of interest areas including health, public infrastructure, renewable energy and trade and investment. Networks have developed between NSW Government officials and Australia Awards scholars and between scholars from different countries, demonstrating the multi-dimensional linkages that occur through Australia Awards Scholarships. The importance of professional linkages was emphasized in the speech provided by Australia Awards in Indonesia scholar Sostenis Tandi Pasang at the Acknowledgement Ceremony held at The Strangers Lounge at the NSW Parliament. Sostenis discussed the importance of forming professional linkages outside the immediate university environment and cited his volunteering as a Team Leader at the Study NSW Welcome Desk at Sydney international airport and in his role as a City of Sydney Ambassador. The NSW Government Australia Awards Seminar Series 2018 delivered for a second year, is a collaboration between the Australia Awards in Indonesia On Award Enrichment team and the NSW Department of Industry through Study NSW. Discussion are underway for the 2019 Series.
