Australia Awards in Indonesia

The Australia Awards are prestigious, transformational scholarships and short courses offered to emerging leaders for study, research and professional development in Australia

Who are our alumni?

We define alumni broadly to cover all Indonesians who have studied in Australia including those who have participated in Australian government hosted programs and those who self-financed their study in Australia.

We are proud of our alumni who become some of the most prominent people in their respective fields. Here we share their inspirational stories.

Extrapolating from data showing 162,663 Indonesians have commenced studies in Australia since 2002, it is estimated there are over 200,000 alumni across Indonesia. This includes alumni from some of Australia’s longest standing scholarship programs, self-funded alumni and a growing number of alumni from Indonesian Government scholarship programs. Alumni represent a diverse community working across all sectors and provinces and with varied professional and life experiences.

The main alumni database maintained by the Embassy covers 13,652 alumni/scholars. The vast majority registered are scholarship recipients from Government programs (86.5% AAI, 6.8%% other Government of Australia programs). The number of self-funded alumni registered in the database has risen in recent years, now sitting at just over 4% of the database, although this is still a minority of all self-funded alumni.
