Project Description:
Ecotourism shouldn’t only be done because it’s a "trend", but because it is a necessity. How to design a tourist destination that has economic value, pays attention to the ecological aspects, and support the environmental conservation, as well as become an educational ground for the visitors.
The natural and cultural assets of Lantan Village are ready to be promoted for tourism. This project is certainly expected to be able to handle the capacity building for the locals through training as well as development of Regulations for Lantan Ecotourism. The local people that are formed into community based tourism group so called POKDARWIS who plays an important role since they are the one who are dealing with the visitors at the first place, as well as women group of Lantan Village that has role in supporting the economy creative of ecotourism activity in Lantan.
We expect that, through this project, the inexperience of the local community of Lantan Village could be improved by providing training, technical guidance in Green Tourism-Hospitality & Guiding, as well as training in food productions as part of a creative economy provided for the women group of Lantan. In doing so, new knowledge and understanding will be gained by the local people who would act as not only a 'host' but also 'owner' of the businesses. By increasing the capacity building opportunities, ecotourism is also an effective vehicle for empowering local communities to fight against poverty and to achieve sustainable development.
