Join Our Lecture on “Unpacking Cultural Practices on Maternal and Newborn Health in Rural Settings of Indonesia”
What cultural factors influence maternal and newborn health in rural Indonesia, and how do these practices impact health outcomes? Join us for an insightful online lecture titled “Unpacking Cultural Practices on Maternal and Newborn Health in Rural Settings of Indonesia,” presented by Dr Jerico Pardosi from Queensland University of Technology, on Friday, 13 December 2024, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. (Jakarta time).
This lecture will explore the cultural dimensions affecting maternal and newborn health in Indonesia's rural settings, highlighting both visible and hidden practices. Dr Pardosi will explore how these cultural practices shape community perceptions of maternal and child health and influence engagement with healthcare services. Participants will gain a deeper understanding of the challenges Indonesia faces in reducing its maternal mortality ratio and improving outcomes for newborns and children under five.
Throughout the session, Dr Pardosi will present key insights into pregnancy, postnatal care, and the critical first 1,000 days of a child's life in Indonesia. In addition, he will propose arguments for further research and discussion on addressing these ongoing challenges in rural healthcare.
This lecture is open to the public, with graduates and scholars of Australian tertiary institutions from Indonesia especially encouraged to participate.
