We are delighted to witness the presence of our exceptional and distinguished alumni at the reception of the "70 Years, 70 Faces: Australian Alumni in Indonesia" Photo Exhibition held at Emiria Soenassa Gallery, Taman Ismail Marzuki, on 12 July 2023. Officially opened by the Australian Foreign Affairs Minister, HE Penny Wong, this exhibition highlights Indonesia's remarkable and diverse community of Australian alumni.
The evening was hosted by the renowned and accomplished actor Marissa Anita, who served as the Master of Ceremonies. In addition, the original Colombo Plan scholars, whose pioneering journey laid the foundation for the strong bond between Australia and Indonesia, were in attendance, showcasing their enduring commitment to fostering bilateral relations. The atmosphere was filled with lively conversations and interactions as guests engaged in chit-chat, mingled, and forged valuable connections.
The "70 Years, 70 Faces: Australian Alumni in Indonesia" Photo Exhibition showcases more than 70 outstanding alumni hailing from various backgrounds, including esteemed government representatives, influential business leaders, accomplished scholars, dedicated researchers, award-winning journalists, talented scientists, renowned actors, and other individuals who are making a positive impact in their communities, thereby shaping the future of Indonesia. They represent the extensive network of over 200,000 Australian alumni spread across Indonesia.
This year holds special significance as it commemorates 70 years since the arrival of the first group of Indonesian Colombo Plan scholarship recipients in Australia. This exhibition is integral to a year-long campaign to celebrate this significant milestone.
