Memberdayakan Pemimpin Perempuan di Sektor Keamanan Indonesia, Australia Memberikan Penghargaan untuk Lokakarya Pasca Kursus

With an impactful three-day Post-Course Workshop held in Jakarta from 21–23 January 2025, the Australia Awards Short Course on Women in Leadership in the Security Sector reached a meaningful conclusion. Delivered by Deakin University, the program brought together 25 professionals from government institutions, universities, research institutes, and civil society organisations. Designed to empower junior to mid-ranking women in key national security organisations, the course equips participants with the skills to amplify women’s leadership and foster inclusive policies.

Australian Deputy Ambassador to Indonesia, Ms Gita Kamath, opened the workshop with inspiring remarks. The event also featured a presentation by Brigadier General Dr Sumy Hastry Purwanti, Head of the Medical and Health Laboratory Division at Pusdokkes Polri, Indonesian National Police. Dr Sumy highlighted challenges and opportunities for women in the security sector and shared her experience representing Indonesia at the 48th Interpol DVI Working Group Meeting in Sydney, Australia.

In September 2024, participants gained invaluable insights during an in-Australia course in Melbourne and Canberra. Reflecting the program, participant Claudia Henyka said, “I met extraordinary mentors and lecturers, participated in exciting programs, and connected with some of the brightest, most inspiring fellows. This has been a life-changing experience.”

The workshop featured an alumni sharing session with accomplished graduates of the 2021 Women in Leadership in Security Sector Short course, who offered practical advice on advancing career goals and making the most of professional networks. Congratulations to all participants who have completed the course and officially became Australia Awards alumni. Best of luck with your future endeavours!
