Bringing Stories to Life: Filmmakers Embark on Transformative Australia Awards Short Course

The cameras are rolling, and the stage is set! The Australia Awards Short Course “At the Forefront of Film – Screenwriting and Directing” started with a three-day pre-course workshop in Yogyakarta, uniting some of Indonesia’s brightest creative talents.

Guided by expert mentors, the participants dove into the art of crafting impactful stories and explored new perspectives on filmmaking. A significant highlight of the program was a visit to the Jogja-NETPAC Asian Film Festival (JAFF) Market, where participants attended a vibrant panel discussion featuring celebrated filmmakers.

Organised by Griffith University’s Griffith Film School, the course provides a unique blend of storytelling, screenwriting, and directing essentials. Participants are now preparing for an intensive two-week program in Australia in January 2025, where they will hone their craft and connect with world-class industry professionals.

Participants will develop Award Projects and practical initiatives throughout the course to showcase their learning. These projects may be featured at the prestigious Festival Sinema Australia-Indonesia, underlining the transformative power of film to inspire change.
