To conduct awareness raising programs for 50 locals (e.g. fishers) in Banda islands on the impacts of sea sand mining and coral mining
To deliver trainings/workshops on alternative livelihoods to 1 women group (involving 10-15 local women) in Banda
Project Description:
There are several root causes for the problems of sea sand mining and coral mining in Banda, including the lack of community awareness, the lack of alternative livelihoods, and area remoteness that cause difficulty and high price of construction materials, among others. Hence, the idea of the project is to reduce the number of sea sand mining and coral mining in Banda through approaches to the communities and key stakeholders, including public awareness campaign, alternative livelihoods development, and identification of alternative materials.
Project Beneficiaries:
50 Fishers
Women group in Banda: may involve 10-15 local women; as representatives of all women in coastal areas of Banda
